For the past decade, Julien's work has focused on America's countercultures, through an exploration of different themes, subjects and techniques.

In 2013 he published “Voila Bonneville,” a photo essay documenting speed racing on the Utah Salt Flats.
In 2015, he completed “Cassettes,” a series of photographs reflecting on the changing physicality of music, focusing on classic and rare volumes released on analog tape. The series was a 2016 Sony World Photography Awards finalist.
In 2018, he released “Ice-Cream Headaches'' (Damiani Editore), a book documenting New York surf culture, including interviews and photographs of more than forty people, including William Finnegan, Michael Halsband, and Lisa Spellman.
His latest publication, "LANDSPEED 2", released in 2021, revisits the Salt Flats race, with a drastically different approach from the work published 8 years prior.

For the past 2 years, Julien has been working on two different book projects while also exploring a new sculpture practice using polyurethane.

Born in France in 1987, Julien graduated from business school with a master's degree in finance. A field of career he only pursued for a year, before transitioning full time to photography. A first exhibition of his work was held at TGF, New York, followed by two group shows in Brooklyn, NY (Ernest Newman Contemporary) and Biarritz, France (Helder Gallery). Since then, Julien’s work has been exhibited in New York (Clic Gallery) and Los Angeles (Subliminal Project, BMSCC), in France and in Brazil.
